About Web Testing Tools

Web Testing Tools is a free audit tool that scans a single URL and returns a structured report covering both classic SEO (search engine optimization) and modern AEO (answer engine optimization). It exists because "ranking" no longer means just one thing — your content has to be discoverable to Google's crawler and to the AI engines that increasingly answer queries directly: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Google's AI Overviews.

What the scan covers

The scanner fetches a single page and inspects the HTML, the response headers, the site's robots.txt, an optional llms.txt, and sitemap.xml. It runs over twenty checks, each producing a pass / warn / fail status plus a specific fix recommendation when something is off. See the SEO & AEO Basics page for an explanation of every check.

Limitations

• Single page. No whole-site crawl in this version.
• Static HTML only. JavaScript is not executed. If your site is rendered client-side, scan a server-rendered or pre-rendered URL instead.
• No live AI engine queries. The AEO score reflects structural readiness — it does not measure whether your URL currently appears in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or AI Overviews answers for specific queries.

What it costs

Free. The site is supported by ads. If you want a deeper audit (whole-site crawl, JavaScript rendering, live AI engine ranking checks), those are on the roadmap.
